About Chris

Key Experiences

A career with HSF - in four different cities
I chose HSF as an undergrad based on gut instinct and my experiences on my vac scheme - and it proved an inspired choice. I'm lucky enough to have received fantastic training as a lawyer and an advocate, to work with fantastic colleagues and mentors and to have the opportunity to work in many different countries

Current Position

I am counsel and advocate in international arbitrations
I represent companies in international arbitrations relating to deals and projects around the world, helping them resolve their disputes if possible and, if not, arguing the case before an arbitration tribunal. My current cases concern Africa, the Middle East and Asia -- and my recent hearings have been in London, SIngapore and Geneva.

Main Motivations

Interesting cases; lots of advocacy; brilliant and friendly colleagues

Top Advice

Remember that you can learn from every experience
Whatever your role, and however good you are your job, there is always some way you can better. We often strive for perfection, but there is always something to learn looking back on something with hindsight and scope to improve something for the next time.

Greatest Achievement

Winning my first case as lead advocate
Hard to pick one thing here - but my first win as lead advocate in a big case was particularly rewarding on many levels. I hope to be able to say in the not too distant future that it has been surpassed by seeing one of the lawyers I mentor promoted to partnership.
